Summary: Indie blurts out that Abi is a "Bossy-Know-It-All" behind her back. Which isn't like Indie at all. Abi overhears this and decides that she and Indie's best friendship is through. Tricks, pranks and messy revenge ensue between Abi and Indie as Marlon tries to keep the peace (and be the practical, realistic one for once) and help the girls realize how much they truly mean to each other.
Chapter 1
Words Can Hurt
The halls of Rexdale Junior High were crowded as usual. It was the end of what seemed like a long day. The students were talking to each other. Groups and cliques were situated throughout the halls. The school bell had rung, but no one seemed to be leaving, despite the fact that school was out for the Summer.
Marlon walks over to Abi as she puts her French textbook into her locker. She decides to take her Scocial Studies notebook home to study. She looks up and down at the inside of her locker, making sure that everything is neat, tidy and organized. Once she sees that everything is in proper order, she closes the door and clicks her lock shut.
Abi turns to face Marlon as he walks towards her. Marlon shows a face of relief and excitement knowing that he won't have to go to Summer School after all.
"Abi, Abi! I have wonderful news! No Summer School for me! I passed. Barely, but I still passed!"
"That's good. You know Marlon, if you just studied more, paid more attention in class and kept a neat and organized notebook, you'd more than barely pass. You'd completely pass and then you'd be like?...."
"You?"
"Why yes!" Abi smiles as she thinks of her notebooks, each carefully labled with tabbed pages and underlined titles. Each notebook tucked away in her locker, all in alphabetical order and neatly stacked. Abi is lost in her dream world.
Marlon snaps his fingers in front of Abi's face. "Abi? Abi? Earth to Abi!"
Abi snaps out of her dream.
"I've got to go. Catch up with you later, Abi." Marlon quickly heads towards the front door. "Later", Abi replies.
Nearby, Indie was talking to Becky Masterson, a girl in her science class. Becky sighed as she began telling Indie about her neigbhour who is always acting like she knows everything.
"I know what you mean, it's the same with Abi. She's such a "bossy-know-it-all"." "She thinks she has the solution for everything."
Abi has overheard this and storms over towards Indie. She has an angry look on her face.
Abi gives Becky one of her signature looks.
"Excuse us, Becky. I have to talk to Indie...alone." Abi turns to look at Indie. Her eyes grow cold as she glares at Indie. Becky quickly leaves Abi and Indie alone. Indie looks nervous as she begins to speak.
"Abi, let me explain..."
"How could you say that about me?!" Abi continues to look at Indie.
"Abi, I'm Sorry."
"You call me a "bossy-know-it-all" behind my back and you're sorry?! "
Indie lowers her head.
"I didn't mean it like that!"
"Well then how did you mean it?!"
"I, I, I meant....", Indie stammers.
"I know what I heard. Some best friend you are!"
"I am your best friend, Abi! I didn't mean..."
"It doesn't matter! Now I know how you truly feel about me." Abi turns away from Indie.
Indie begins to speak, when Abi interrupts her.
"Don't talk to me, Indira. I never want to speak to you again for as long as I live!", Abi shouts angrily as she storms off.
Students have already started staring at Indie and Abi.
Both Abi and Indie take no notice of this.
"Abi, wait!", Indie rushes to catch up with Abi, but then stops in futility.

Meanwhile, over at the Happy Breeze Food Hut, Marlon is eating his special order of french fries and sweet and sour sauce. He thought about ordering pickles too, but he wasn't sure if that would be a bit much. Just as Marlon was munching on his fries, Abi storms into the Hut and heads to the back storeroom and grabs her clipboard.
